You want to know how I know things actually aren’t that bad right now? Because of the frivolous bull honky some people have the time and will to complain about.
I’m in a unique position between a constant barrage of doomers telling me our country is over and we’re all gonna die, and people complaining about literally THE dumbest shit. Apparently I touch my hair too much during my livestreams and this is reprehensible to some who feel the need to tell me so in the comments of every single stream I do. I get endless commentary about my looks (“good,” bad, and MEAN). People grouse when I mispronounce a word, which happens often because I have no real-life human interaction where I would hear a word out loud. I thought Reuters was pronounced “roo-ters” and don’t even get me started on “gubernatorial” or “Tanzania.” I somehow simultaneously talk too much and not enough during The Liberty Den. Today this guy went out of his way to find my account on Telegram and send this.
And this isn’t unique to me, I watch this kind of criticism happen all the time, mostly to anyone putting out content of some sort.
I don’t bring this up to throw shade at people or even defend myself (I had a hangnail, sir!). Whatever, we’re all human and we have our own quirks and personal pet peeves. I’m guilty of it too, every time Sean Hannity interrupts important guests I rage a little and my right eye starts to twitch.
I wanted to share this because it actually comes with a positive message. If even a few of us have the time, energy, and luxury to complain about such things, can our situation really be that bad?
I mean, really.
I know circumstances look grim right now and like we’re headed in an awful direction. But let’s take an objective look around for a second. Are our truth tellers in reeducation camps? Are we being hung by our toenails in some gulag somewhere? We’re nervous about food shortages, but are any of us starving? Did anyone actually go without toilet paper? We have running water, power, internet, the freedom to travel around, etc. Yeah we’re being censored, but are we truly being silenced? I’m sure the people throughout history who were genuinely silenced would scoff at us.
This is the only war in history where we have the option to turn off our devices, tune it out, and live life pretty normally. We literally have the ability to take a break from it and go kick up our feet and read and book, or go on vacation and ignore it completely. Other than the price of things and a couple nincompoops in masks, you’d hardly even know there was an important battle happening if you weren’t actively participating in the discourse. In fact, many people miss it entirely.
My point is that I hope we can all find gratitude for this and allow it to ground us a little in the times when we’re panicking. Take a look around and find appreciation for all the things we actually DO HAVE right now and let it give you strength and courage. Be thankful for the freedom and fortune to gripe about meaningless shit. But also feel proud that you are out here fighting when you literally don’t “have” to be, other than your overwhelming desire to make things better and secure our future.
Because I guarantee if you were swinging by your toenails in a gulag you’d realize how much you miss me touching my hair, biting my nails, Beer’s jokes, Patrick’s impeccable enunciation, and the way Patel says “exspecially.” 😂
Thank you Kate for starting this sub stack You are a beautiful lady and I love hearing your words on Liberty Den and last night in Devolution Hour with Jon and Patrick. don’t listen to those who criticize they obviously have nothing going on in their own lives that they have to nit pick. God bless you for who you are and everything you’ve shared. Wish I had the courage to share as you do.
Great perspective Kate! Never stop being and speaking your inner truth. ✌🏻
